A good prompt isn't a magic phrase — it's a clear brief. Give the model a role, the context, and the format you want, and mediocre output turns genuinely useful. Below are prompts you can paste today, followed by the formula so you can write your own.
Email & communication
Reply, faster: "You're my assistant. Here's an email I received: [paste]. Draft a reply that is [warm but brief / firm / apologetic]. Keep it under 120 words and give me two versions."
The hard message: "Help me say no to this request politely and without over-explaining: [paste]. Keep my relationship with them intact."
Summarizing & deciding
Tame a long thread: "Summarize this thread into: (1) the decision needed, (2) each person's position, (3) the open questions. Thread: [paste]."
Think it through: "I'm deciding between [A] and [B]. Ask me five questions that would change my answer, then give your recommendation."
Planning & writing
Unstick a project: "Break this goal into the first five concrete steps I can do this week: [goal]. Order them by what unblocks the most."
Beat the blank page: "Write a first draft of [post / description / update] in a [friendly / professional] tone. Here are the key points: [bullets]. I'll edit from there."
The formula behind a good prompt
Every strong prompt has four parts. Add them and quality jumps:
- Role — "You're my assistant / a copy editor / a recruiter."
- Task — one clear job, stated plainly.
- Context — the details and constraints it needs.
- Format — length, structure, how many options.
